Popsicles - Love 'em, Hate 'em
So the story behind Lucas' love/hate relationship with popsicles
is that at around 9 months, we gave him one, and he held it
like he was born with it and scarfed it down. We thought it was
funny so gave them to him all the time. David started noticing him
wincing when he ate them, even though we had to hold him back
from eating big chunks. We finally figured out he was getting
brain freezes from eating too much, too fast!
The end came when he freaked out as I gave him one, then
screamed when I took it away - he wanted it, but was scared of it...
so no more.
Now here he is having one after a long time of not
having any. He is being extra careful not to get too
much in his mouth or let it touch the roof of his mouth...
Hee. Hee.
(ps. It's a little long, but I tried to spare you all 45 minutes!)

11 months - Walking!
So the day after the 4th of July, Lucas took his first 2
"look, no hands!" steps. Then back to crawling. Then the
next day or so, he gingerly took 4 little steps into open territory.
Then back to crawling. What a tease. Then one day I counted
6 and David counted 7 steps. C'mon, you're killing us -
no time to even grab a camera.
But finally, our patience was rewarded, and his confidence was high
because yesterday, he decided, "I'm gonna walk, dang it," and
he's been teeter-tottering ever since. So I guess it's official.

Carnival
Juanita is just about the only friend that I can drag
to demolition derbies, carnivals, fairs, dirt-track racing,
hometown wrestling and whatever else we can laugh at.
Now that we both have kids, it is time to get
them down and dirty!
Ava & Lucas ride the green fish,
then Ave seriously "holds on" to the train
We giggled more than they did!
Their first date.
(She's obviously classier than hillbilly Lucas).
If you can't get to India, Ashland City is the
next best place to ride an elephant.
Lucas looks a little worried about my glee.
Ava & Lucas get some pool time in...
They're so cute together, we hope they are still fond
of each other when they are older!
